I think it's the greatest irony: the creation of a veggie, macrobiotic New World, in which all domestic creatures will be off-limits as food sources, ostensibly out of respect for the sanctity of life and of blood, is to be brought into being by the slaughter of 99.99 percent of the human race!

What is the main issue you have with this religion?
by Quillsky infor me there are many obvious issues, but the big one is......... the big daddy of the universe, the father of all this incredible creation, is not about to annihilate everybody who is not a member of this late 1800's american religion, jehovah's witnesses.. that's it for me.. what is your big issue?.

There's no question that legal concerns -- and potential financial liability -- dominate WT policy. Examples are the 1985 "simplification" of baptism vows, the proliferation of several coroporate entitities, the wording of disassociation and disfellowhipping announcements, the change to "voluntary donations" for literature, the instructions that congregational actions are set autonomously and not directed by Brooklyn/Patterson, etc., etc. were conceived by the Legal Department whatever the scriptural jistification offered to rationalized them.

Q 8, 9. (a) What experiences highlight the value of using the Bible in our ministry? (b) How can we become more adept at using God's Word?
8. When in the door-to-door work, a brother read Daniel 2:44 to a Catholic man and explained how God's Kingdom will bring about true peace and security. The man responded: "I really appreciate your opening the Bible and showing me what the scripture said instead of just telling me." When a brother read a scripture to a Greek Orthodox woman, she asked a number of good questions. In this case too, the brother, along with his wife, answered from the Bible. Later, the woman said: "Do you know why I was willing to talk with you? You came to my door with the Bible, and you read from it."
Thanks Blondie. My impression is that the JWs are almost as reliant on the "Reasoning From The Scriptures" book as the old-timers were on Rutherford's phonographs. I wonder what percentage could stand up to a lengthy conversation with a Biblically literate householder with nothing more than a Bible in their hand.

An Explanation of why TIME TRAVEL does not work
by Terry inenergy and matter are neither created nor destroyed.. consequently, the building blocks of existence are actually finite parts.. to create things in "tomorrow" which are new, something has to be dismantled to leave spare parts for tomorrow's new thing.. the old thing deteriorates, (dies/disintegrates) and the parts become available to make the new thing.. time travel requires going to a place where today's parts are available to be rearranged.. some of today's things persist as they are, of course.
they only travel through time by persisting as they are.
(mountains, for example.).

Another constraint to time travel -- especially rearward travel --- is the principle of causality... essentially, causality prohibits one from going back to a point before one was born.

Door to Door Message? A DIVERSION! Where does the MONEY go??
by Terry inthe door to door work is a sham.. the central activity of the watchtower bible and tract society is not spreading their so-called "message" about the kingdom of jehovah established in the heavens in 1914.. that's a load of propaganda.. the door to door activity is feckless in producing converts.
in fact, it is an immense failure of mammoth proportions!.
but, it is a diversion.

I know from first-hand sources that the WT has at least two Bloomberg financial terminals that cost at least $20,000 a year per subscription. Their main purpose is to analyze fiancial markets, notably bonds. I was handed a business card by a Bethelite which bears the title "international cash management."

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

... then there was another incident at a Kingdom Hall shown on the local PBS station as part of a program on the travails of being a paramedic. One paramedic interviewed recounted how she and her team were summoned to a KH to help a person with a heart attack, and had to deal with JWs foisting literature on them and trying to "witness" while they were doing CPR! I kid you not.....
